Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said on Monday that Tehran and Muscat have been holding technical and political talks to reach an agreement on navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
During his weekly press briefing, Baqaei said there was no third party involved in the talks with Oman. He added that issues related to the United States and the implementation of its commitments would be reviewed later, depending on the situation.
Baqaei said Iran has seriously continued negotiations with Oman over the past week. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has also been in contact with regional and international counterparts.
He said the talks aim to prevent further regional insecurity and protect Iran’s national interests.
