Basant 2027 may be celebrated in January instead of February, according to sources. The proposal is being considered because Ramadan is expected to begin in February. Authorities are considering holding Basant at the end of January to avoid a clash with the holy month.
However, the final date will be announced after government approval.
Sources said permission for kite flying, kite making and the sale of related materials may also be given soon.
Further progress on Basant and kite-flying activities is expected after the monsoon season. Relevant authorities are also expected to introduce safety measures and rules to ensure the festival is celebrated safely.
