Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has revealed details of his recent seven-hour meeting with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, saying the Leader stressed that preserving national unity and cohesion is essential to confronting enemy plots. Speaking on Monday during a meeting with secretaries-general of political parties and political figures at the Interior Ministry, Pezeshkian described his talks with the Leader as “very productive” and said all major issues facing Iran were discussed.
Pezeshkian said maintaining unity and cohesion was Ayatollah Khamenei’s most important recommendation, warning that Iran’s adversaries were seeking to exploit divisions within the country. “Today, the enemy’s entire strategy is focused on sowing discord,” he said, urging political groups and citizens to avoid disagreements and statements that could undermine national cohesion. He stressed that although domestic differences may exist, Iranians must present a united position when confronting external threats so that adversaries understand that Iran remains determined to defend its independence, dignity and beliefs.
The Iranian president said the meeting also addressed people’s livelihoods, employment and housing, along with challenges created by sanctions, the resilience of the government and nation, and the need to maintain public support. He acknowledged the difficulties facing ordinary Iranians and expressed regret over shortcomings during the current challenging period. Addressing the public, Pezeshkian said the government was “wholeheartedly committed” to serving the people and would make every effort to resolve their problems. The talks reportedly took place on Sunday as Pezeshkian entered the third year of his presidency.
