Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Hangu district on August 7, 2026, after receiving information about the presence of Khwarij belonging to the Indian proxy group, Fitna Al Khwarij.
According to the ISPR, security forces effectively targeted the militants’ location during the operation. The militants took refuge inside a mosque, despite the sanctity of the place of worship.
During an exchange of fire, seven militants belonging to Indian-sponsored Fitna Al Khwarij were killed.
However, Captain Hamza Akram, 27, a resident of Narowal district, was martyred during the intense firefight. The ISPR said the brave officer was leading his troops from the front and was pursuing the militants when he made the ultimate sacrifice.
Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed militants. According to the ISPR, they were involved in several terrorist activities targeting security forces, law enforcement agencies and innocent civilians.
A sanitisation operation is underway in the area to find and eliminate any remaining militants.
The ISPR said security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue their counterterrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.
The military reaffirmed that the campaign will continue at full pace to eliminate foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country. It added that the sacrifices of brave soldiers strengthen Pakistan’s commitment to protecting the nation.
